Frequently Asked Questions

I'm a welder and I also use a grinder at my job. The sparks and slag often cause my boot laces to burn or smolder and then I pull them up to tie the bootlaces, they break. Will Welder Laces hold in this situation?

Yes, Absolutely! Both Nomex and Kevlar are heat resistant and flame retardant fibers. They are the only fibers in Welder Laces. That's the whole reason we developed them. Order online or call 1-860-482-7100.

Do Waxed Laces work better than regular laces?

That depends on what you mean by work. In heat + sparks, waxed laces burn very quickly. Wax burns!

Most waxed laces come with a base layer of cotton or nylon. Neither of which are particularly good for abrasion resistance. Nor for sparks and heat resistance.

Beware of waxed laces that claim to be "stronger". They are no stronger than the base fiber they are made of. The wax rubs off and all you have left is the base fiber. Waxed laces do stay tied quite well.

See our lace comparison chart. Aramid fibers are both strong and flame retardant (Nomex) Our Welder Laces feature aramid fiber.
