Do Waxed Laces work better than regular laces?
| That depends on what you mean by work. In heat + sparks, waxed laces burn very quickly. Wax burns! Most waxed laces come with a base layer of cotton or nylon. Neither of which are particularly good for abrasion resistance. Nor for sparks and heat resistance. Beware of waxed laces that claim to be "stronger". They are no stronger than the base fiber they are made of. The wax rubs off and all you have left is the base fiber. Waxed laces do stay tied quite well. See our lace comparison chart.
